Alterations to the Niagara-on-the-Lake Courthouse
For the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

Project
Completed
The project was an historic renovation of the 1848+- building originally designed by William Thomas. The renovated building was to house Parks Canada offices, expand the present library, improve the tourist facilities and accommodations of the Shaw's Courthouse Theatre, provide public washrooms and space for the Regional Police and offices for the Chamber of Commerce. A new at-grade entrance and elevator was incorporated in the building making all but the theatre balcony and intermediate level of the library accessible. The building was generally restored and lost features such as the lantern and dome of the ceiling decoration in the main hall were re-instated. The building's thermal efficiancy was improved and discreetly concealed. Modern HVAC was introduced. The firm worked closely with Niagara-on-the-Lake L.A.C.A.C. and the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Recreation throughout the project.
